22:29 Jesus ¹  answered them, “You are deceived, ²  because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.

Matius 16:4

16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then ³  he left them and went away.

[22:29]  ¹ tn Grk “And answering, Jesus said to them.” This is somewhat redundant and has been simplified in the translation.

[22:29]  ² tn Or “mistaken” (cf. BDAG 822 s.v. πλανάω 2.c.γ).

[16:4]  ³ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.
